Dogs

Whether you are a dog lover (or not), this page has some important information for you

Not a dog lover?

If you have a dog you'd like to bring with you, he or she will be warmly welcomed. Drinking/food bowls, dog blankets, and towels are provided so you don't need to bring them with you. There are some lovely walks along country lanes, plenty of opportunities for your dog to take a dip as well as other great things to do and see. There is a dedicated doggy section for more suggestions. However, there are a few things you'll need to bear in mind for your holiday:

  • The garden is enclosed but only by a metre high wire fence. If your dog likes jumping over or digging under fences you'll need to keep him or her on a lead when you're outside
  • Ardnageena is surrounded by farmland so animals are often grazing nearby. If your dog escapes and harms or scares these animals, it is fair to say the farmer will not be best pleased. I know this next bit sounds scary, but farmers have the right to shoot dogs who are messing with their animals. It is your responsibility to make sure this doesn't happen. I don't want to put you off coming but it is better to find this information out now rather than when it's too late...
  • The Sheep's Head Way is not dog-friendly, however, there are lots of walks and places to go which are
  • There is an additional cleaning charge of EUR 5 per day. This is to cover the extra work involved in getting the cottage ready for the next visitors. Further costs may be incurred if the cottage is left in dog-related chaos

If you don't love dogs...

...don't worry!

I completely understand. Until five years ago I was terrified of dogs. If you don't want to be bothered by Dougal, then please let me know when you book and I will make sure he is kept out of your way for your entire stay.

If you are concerned about dog hair in the bed or under the sofa, I will be cleaning thoroughly between guests. It might not be enough if you have allergies but I will do my best.
